Day 15 - Saturday - Säumerfest in Grafenau

On the last day together we visited a unique festival in Grafenau, the Säumerfest. We talked to the major from Grafenau (the man with the red cap) and experienced a lot of fascinating crafts, food and fashion from the middle Ages.

Zelda and Shakes tried out the sword play with real swords.

Fidschis dad Josef engraved a lot of glasses, which are great individuall souvenirs to bring home. Have a look at his amazing work in his Homepage: http://www.joesglasstueberl.de/index.php?seite=meinearbeiten

The second special experience was our visit at the fire department in Grafenau. Thanks a lot to the fire fighters, who showed us their equipment.

Day 14 - Friday - Arriving at Saldenburg

Today was time to visit Passau for the last time and shop souvenirs. Unfortunaltely it rained the whole day. In the afternoon we had a break at the Eber-Ranch. Thanks for the drinks and the delicous cake! Franziska showed her photo album of our trip to South Africa last year, called Z'Ubunti.

Then we drove to Saldenburg, an ancient castle in the bavarian forest, built in 1368. We reached our beadrooms in the fourth floor. We counted 96 steps from the entrance to the room door. In the evening we sat together and had fun.

Day 13 - Thursday - Bayern Park

On Thursday we went to the Bayern Park in Reisbach.

We had a lot of fun on various types of rides.

Be prepared

Day 12 - Wednesday - Break down of the camp

After five amazing days in Salzweg we had to break down the tents and clean up the whole area. The cooks prepared a great last meal called "Best of". Everybody worked together. So the big black tent was finished in the early afternoon.

At 2 p.m. was time to say goodbye. The last pictures with the new friends were taken. And we all agreed, it is no "goodbye", but a "see you again".

Day 11 - Thuesday - Last night in camp

On the last evening in Salzweg we had funny performances from the camp groups. The orange group tought everybody the song "boogaloo": 1,2,3,4, - 5,6,7,8, show me your underwear - what did you say?

The green group performed a skit about a magician, who can tell the future. The yellow group invented the game "guess who". We had to identify characters from the camp. And the red group showed a safari. We learned how important it is to be prepared every time. A lot of joy was brought to the audience. Later the scout band of Salzweg played on the stage and everybody was dancing and having a good time together.

Day 10 - Monday - International Camp

When we had been in south africa we went to an old people's home for some singing as a mixed scout choir.
So we decided to do the same here in Germany once again.

In the afternoon we had been out for some scout youth leisure with the kids from the camp and 20 kids out of salzweg.

At the evening we had a nightwalk around the camp and made some bread on a stick.

International Camp - behind the scences

Breaking the journalism rules I show you a few pictures from behind the scenes in the international scout camp in Salzweg.

Thanks to Gregor we were able to visit a secred place. Every 15 minutes - even in the night - the church tower bell rings. That´s why our guests wanted to have a look at it.

If you want to learn how to make a lot of delicious food out of a garbage house, ask our four magnificent cooks Astrid, Nadja, Omar and Veronika.

We had a very delicious southafrican lunch on thuesday. You can see Marisa preparing the bobotie on the next photo.

Sunday started in the normal way for a scout camp with a church service.

The service was done allways first in German than in English language.

Thanks to the organisation team. And thanks to the scout band for playing.

In the afternoon there was first some spare time to do some plannings for the south african program on tuesday.

And then the time was there for one of my favourite games.
